Extending a motor-plan at cost price

QUESTION:

I purchased a vehicle with an existing motor-plan. After experiencing some issues, I sent it in for repairs. Unfortunately, they kept the car longer than anticipated and I am not satisfied with the repairs. The company offered to extend the motor-plan for an additional two years at cost price as a consolation. Will it be permissible to extend the motor-plan in this case since I’m not satisfied with with the repair work, and for the time taken to repair the vehicle? Please advise.

ANSWER:

No, it will not be permissible to extend your motor-plan even though the company may be offering it to you at cost price. Yes, if the company offers it to you free of charge, then benefitting from the motor plan will be in order.
