Farhat Hashmi
Question:-
I have a question regarding Farhat Hashmi. I’ve heard that we shouldn’t listen to her lectures. She has changed the lives of many people, many of my family members became more conscious of their religion through her and started praying etc. She also runs many classes on Arabic, Tafseer, Fiqh etc. I only see benefit.
Answer:-
Farhat Hashmi is just another deviant that has strayed from the path of the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa’ah. Although it seems she may be propagating Islam to thousands of people, that is really no sign of acceptance, particularly when many of the things she propagates is incorrect, such as, females being able to recite the Quraan Sharif in a state of menses; women should be permitted to perform their Salaah out of their homes and should be permitted to lead the congregational prayers; her followers are permitted to interpret the Quraan Sharif, and many more misleading statements. She is misguided herself and, in fact, leading others astray.
It is recorded in a narration of Muslim Sharif, Hadrat Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu narrates, “We were present with Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam when he mentioned in regard to a person that claimed Islam, that he is from amongst the people of the fire of Jahannam. When the time of Jihaad arose, he fought severely until he was wounded. It was said, ‘O messenger of Allah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam, you stated that he is from amongst the dwellers of Jahannam yet he fought severely today.’ Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, ‘To the fire of Jahannam.’ Some of the Sahaabah were about to doubt the matter but whilst they were in this condition it was said, he did not die but he was severely wounded. When night dawned upon him, he was unable to endure the (pain) of the wounds and killed himself. Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam was informed of this, and he said, ‘Allah is the greatest! I bear witness that verily I am the servant of Allah and His messenger.’ He then commanded Bilaal Radiallahu Anhu to announce amongst the people, ‘Only a Muslim soul will enter Jannah, and Allah Ta’ala certainly supports this Deen with a transgressor,’.”[At-Tawdeeh Li Sharhi Jaa’mea-is- Saheeh Pg.303 Vol.18]
The above narration clearly proves that propagating and serving the Deen is not sufficient. He fought in the path of Allah yet he carried out an impermissible act by killing himself, hence he was destined to the fire. Hence, if any action is carried out in accordance to the teachings of Allah and His Rasul Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam with the correct intentions, then only there is hope of acceptance on the day of Qiyaamah. No person is guaranteed acceptance in the world, although there are outward signs indicating towards acceptance. However, it cannot be said with certainty that one is accepted. This will only be known on the day of Qiyaamah.
In conclusion, due to your short-sightedness you have assumed that many people have changed their lives, whereas it seems that many have been misguided and strayed further away from Deen. During the era of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam, even the hypocrites performed Salaah and participated at times in Jihaad, etc. Will that constitute acceptance? Currently, there are many non-Muslim lecturers at a number of universities lecturing in Islamic studies and are well versed in Quraan, Hadith, Fiqh, etc. and have even written books on these subjects. Does it mean that they are successful? When people maintain the correct beliefs as required in the Shariah, follow the blessed Sunnah of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam, obey the commands of Allah Ta’ala and refrain from His disobedience, together with various other aspects then it is an indication of them treading the correct path and gaining closeness to Allah Ta’ala. We hope this explains the matter.
