Females going for waxing and laser treatment
Question:-
I would like to know if it’s permissible for women to use razors, shaving machines or rechargeable shavers for hair removal. Also, in the case where women grow hair on other parts of the body like the back and stomach, is it permissible for them to go to someone for waxing or laser?
Answer:-
In principle, a female is permitted to use a razor to remove unwanted hair but doing so is inappropriate. Allama Nawawi Rahimahullah states that a female should pluck unwanted hair. However, if she utilizes hair removal cream or an electronic shaver, then this would suffice.
واصل السنة يتادي بكل مزيل لحصول المقصود وهو النظافة وقال النووي الاولي في حقه الحلق وفي حقها النتف (طحطاوي علي المراقي ص431)
It is not permissible for a female to expose her Satr before another female, except at the time of necessity such as acquiring treatment from a medical practitioner, and then too, only the affected area should be exposed. Removing her body hair is not considered as a necessity hence, it will not be correct for her to have waxing or laser done by other females on her stomach and back, which is part of her Satr. The Fuqaha had regarded it as permissible for a Muslim female to look at another Muslim female, except for the area between the navel and the knee. However, such permission was granted on the basis that both are of the same gender, and generally individuals of the same gender do not have desire for each other. However, we are living in a time of such Fitna where females now desire females which is contrary to the norm, hence, females should conceal their entire body from other females.
