Females travelling without a Mahram
Question:-
My wife and minor children (which include my sons and daughter) want to undertake a journey to my in-laws abroad. I am unable to accompany them at this point in time. Will it be permissible for them to undertake the journey?
Answer:-
It will not be permissible for your wife and daughter to travel alone to your in-laws. They should be accompanied by a Mahram. Since your sons are minors (Na-Baaligh), they cannot serve as Mahaarim to their mother and sister at this stage.
لَا تُسَافِرْ الْمَرْأَةُ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ إلَّا بِزَوْجٍ أو مَحْرَمٍ (البحر الرائق – فصل في النظر والمس)
If a Mahram is not available, she should leave out her journey. If you permit her to travel without a Mahram, then you will be sinful, as well as she, for undertaking such a journey.
