Wearing red clothing

Dec 31, 2021 | Appearance And Attire

Question:-

Are males permitted to wear red coloured clothing? Is there any concession to the ruling?

Answer:-

Males are prohibited from wearing clothing that is entirely red in colour, due to it having resemblance with women, or due to it having resemblance with the A’aajim (non-Muslims), or due to pride. However, if these reasons become non-existent and fall away then the abhorrence will also fall away.

However, as the above reasons are still existent in this day and age (to a great extent), wearing clothing that is purely red remains Makrooh for men. Yes, if there are some other colours (together with the red) on the garment, for example, there are black stripes running across the length and breadth of the red area of the garment, there would be leeway for wearing such a garment.
