Females wearing tight-fitting clothing such as jeans

Question:-

Are females permitted to wear tight-

fitting clothing such as jeans or clothing where the shape of the body is revealed?

Answer:-

As Muslims, we should remember that Allah Ta’ala has blessed us with the most beautiful Deen of Islam and in every aspect of our lives we are governed by the Shariah. We should, therefore, adhere to the laws of Shariah in all matters of life which inter alia; includes our dressing.

Females are required to dress modestly in terms of Shariah. Wearing clothing which reveals the shape of the body goes against the very grain of Hayaa (modesty). When modesty is destroyed in a person, then eventually the Imaan of such a person is also destroyed.

Wearing tight-fitting and revealing clothing is also in emulation of the disbelieving women as they are the ones that dress immodestly in public places.  A believing woman will always ensure that her body and the shape of her body is fully concealed, as her beauty is solely reserved for her husband.

Hadrat Ali Radiallahu Anhu narrates that he asked Hadrat Fatima Radiallahu Anha, “What is best for women?” She replied, “They should not look at men nor should the men look at them.” He then mentioned this to Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam who responded by saying, “Verily Fatima is a portion of me.”

Yet in another narration, Hadrat Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said, “There are two types of people who are dwellers of the fire of Jahannam whom I have not seen (in my era); a group of people that will have with them whips which are like the tails of cows and they will be (oppressively) beating people with them, and (the second group will be) women who are outwardly dressed in clothing but are naked; they will incline others (incline men towards evil) and they themselves will be inclined towards it. Their heads will be like the humps of camels inclined to one side (meaning that the hair will be gathered at the rear and raised on the head – like the hump of a camel – following the fashion and trend of the time). These women will neither enter Jannah nor will they smell its fragrance. The fragrance of Jannah will be perceptible from such and such distance (referring to a far-off distance).” It is recorded in some narrations that the fragrance of Jannah will be sensed from a distance of five hundred years.

Many Muslim females wear see-through clothing that reveal the colour of the skin whilst others don absolutely tight-fitting clothing which reveal the complete shape of the body. All such women should take lesson from the above narration. Is it really worth losing one’s Jannah due to keeping up with the latest fashion?

عن علي بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه: أنه قال لفاطمة رضي الله عنها: ما خير للنساء؟ قالت: أن لا يرين الرجال ولا يرونهن. فذكره للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: إنما فاطمة بضعة مني» .

رواه أبو نعيم في “الحلية”.

وعن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال‏:‏ قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏:‏ ‏ “‏صِنفان من أهل النار لم أرهما‏:‏ قوم معهم سياط كأذناب البقر يضربون بها الناس، ونساء كاسيات عاريات مميلات مائلات، رءوسهن كأسنمة البخت المائلة لا يدخلن الجنة، ولا يجدن ريحها، وإن ريحها ليوجد من مسيرة كذا وكذا‏”‏ (‏رواه مسلم رقم 2128‏‏‏‏‏

.‏ معنى عاريات تستر بعض بدنها وتكشف بعضه إظهارا بحالها ونحوه ، وقيل : معناه تلبس ثوبا رقيقا يصف لون بدنها
