Forgoing Umrah
QUESTION:
Some pious Ulama desist from Umrah because of the Fitnah of women and intermingling taking place, etc. Does this mean that we should also refrain from doing so?
ANSWER:
We have not come across anything of this nature. However, it is absolutely imperative that one protects his gaze when going for Umrah. Many a times a person intends doing a Nafl (optional) action, but in the interim, he destroys all the reward by involving himself in sin and evil. Hence, instead of gaining, he begins to lose. It is perhaps because of this reason that pious personalities don’t go for Umrah. One of the advices of Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam to Hadrat Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu is:
اتَّقِ المحارمَ تكن أعبدَ الناسِ
“Abstain from Haraam, you will be the greatest worshipper”
May Allah Ta’ala bless us with the true understanding, Aameen!
ALLAH TA’ALA ALONE IN HIS INFINITE KNOWLEDGE KNOWS BEST!
