Halaal meat in Turkey

Question:-

Would Mufti be able to advise on the Halaal status of meat in Istanbul, Turkey. I have heard that all meat in Turkey is Halaal, but would like to be sure as I will be visiting there soon, Insha’Allah.

Answer:-

We are not fully aware of the meat situation in Turkey; whether the animals are slaughtered in accordance to Shariah or not, hence, making it difficult for us to comment. However, one should exercise great caution with food items therefore, it would be better to carry your own meat from South Africa if required, otherwise you may consume vegetables, fruit etc. which is available is abundance.
