QUESTION:

What is the Shari’ stance on “honeymoons”?

ANSWER:

Hadhrat Mufti Saeed Motara Saheb has written the following regarding honeymoons:

“The concept of a honeymoon is foreign to Islam. There is no proof of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam, Sahaaba Radialllahu Anhum, or any of our pious seniors going on honeymoon. We, as Muslims, have been commanded in the Quraan to contradict and oppose the ways of the Kuffar, hence this practice should also be discarded.” (Aap ke Masaail Aur Unka Hal Vol.6 Pg.403)
