Injections And Cupping While Fasting

QUESTION:

Can a person continue with eye injection treatment and cupping whilst fasting?

ANSWER:

1. Yes, injections in the eye will not invalidate the fast.

ولو أقطر شيئا من الداء في عينه لايفطر صومه عندنا وإن وجد طعمه في حلقه وإذا بزق فرأى أثر الكحل ولونه في بزاقه عامة المشايخ على أنه لايفسد صوم; كذا في الذخيرة وهو الأصح كذا في التبيين.

2. Cupping whilst fasting does not invalidate the fast. However, Fuqaha have stated that if one knows, through past experiences, that cupping whilst fasting will cause weakness, then it will be Makrooh to undergo cupping whilst fasting.

(أو احتجم) لم يفسد وتكره الحجامة للصائم إذا كانت تضعفه أما إذا كان لايخافه فلا بأس به (حاشية الطحطاوي على مراقي الفلاح ص660)
