Joint wedding and Walimah

Question:-

I would like to know if it is permissible to attend a joint function where the wedding and Walimah is combined?
I’m trying to avoid attending weddings, so I would like to know if it is permissible for me to attend such a gathering?

Answer:-

After performance of Nikah, it is Sunnah to have a Walimah. The Walimah of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam was celebrated the next day after consummating the marriage. The Walimah is from the groom’s side only, hence, the total expenses for the Walimah will be incurred from the boy’s party and is not shared with the bride’s family. We, therefore, advise that you abstain from attending the ‘joint function’ which seems to be a bridal reception.
