Sunnat method of Walimah
Question:-
1. Is it Sunnah for the newly wed couple to be intimate on the first night of marriage?
2. What is the Sunnah method of Walimah? At which point and time should the Walimah be celebrated?
Answer:-
1. We haven’t come across any narration that states having intercourse on the first night is Sunnah. It is recorded in Bazlul Majhood on Page.345 Volume 5, that after the newly wed couple have spent the night together, then holding the Walimah the next day is correct. It is not necessary for the couple to be intimate.
2. The actual Sunnah is to have Walimah the next day after the couple have spent the night together. When Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam married Hadrat Zainab Bint Jahsh Radiallahu Anha, then the Walimah was celebrated the next day. [Reference:- Kitaabun Nawaazil Page.465 Volume.8]
