Jumu’ah Salaah at University

QUESTION:

I understand that general permission and access to the Jumu’ah Salaah venue is a prerequisite for Jumu’ah Salaah to be valid in that area. Based on this, is Jumu’ah Salaah valid on a university campus which limits access to the Musallah to only students on campus?

ANSWER:

If the university is located in such a city or suburb where all the other conditions of Jumu’ah are found, then it will be permissible to perform Jumu’ah at the university. The university premises are generally kept locked because there is a fear of theft etc. In this instance, the gates remaining closed is not to prevent other Musallis from attending the Jumu’ah Salaah, but rather, it is for administrative purposes or security reasons, which does not prevent the validity of Jumu’ah.

سوال: مختلف فیکٹریوں میں جن میں باہر سے لوگ نہیں جاسکتے ہیں جمعہ پڑھنے کا کیا حکم ہے؟ نیز اسکولوں اور کالچوں میں بھی یہی صورت حال ہے لہذ ان میں جمعہ کی نماز پڑھنے کا کیاحکم ہے؟

الجواب: صورت مسئولہ میں فیکٹری ، اسکول، کالج وغیرہ ایسے شہرمیں ہیں جس میں شرائط جمعہ پاۓ جاتے ہیں یافناء شہر میں ہیں تو ان سب میں جمعہ قائم کر نا درست ہے ۔ اور باہر سے لوگوں کا نہ آنا مانع نہیں ہے
