Ma’zoor making Wudhu as soon as the Salaah time enters

Jan 16, 2022 | Ma'zoor

Question:-

Mufti, I have been a Ma’zoor for over a year because I had a catheter attached. Recently, I went for a prostate laser removal. I still have no control over my bladder and the doctors say that it will take between three to six months to improve. The time between Asr and Maghrib is short, during which I do not experience any leakage. However, at other times I have to use a pad because of leakages.

Am I still considered a Ma’zoor?  Can I make wudhu immediately after Zawaal and when the time of Maghrib sets in,  or should I wait? If I delay, I will get late for Maghrib Jamaat and Jumuah.

Answer:-

We understand from your query that the catheter that was attached to you has now been removed. However, due to the prostate laser removal, you still have no control over your bladder. Now, if you do not experience any urine drops in a particular Salaah time, then you will not be considered as Ma’zoor. Let us assume that you did not experience any urine drops between Asr and Maghrib Salaah, then you will not be considered as Ma’zoor. But, immediately thereafter (between Maghrib and Esha), the urine drops commenced,  and were continuous to the extent that you were unable to perform your Salaah without experiencing any urine drops, then you will have to wait until the end of Maghrib time, and then perform a fresh Wudhu and perform your Maghrib Salaah. Now, you will be categorized as a Ma’zoor. Thereafter, if the urine drops are found even once in the Esha time, then you will remain as Ma’zoor.

Similarly, if you were already categorized as a Ma’zoor (as explained above) and the time of Zuhr enters (after the elapsing of Zawaal), then you may perform Wudhu and perform Salaah, if you experience urine drops even once (in the time). In the absence of urine drops in the time, you will not remain as Ma’zoor.

The Wudhu of a Ma’zoor breaks when the time of Salaah expires. If the time of Fajr expired and thereafter you performed a new Wudhu for Ishraaq then you can even perform Zuhr with that Wudhu until the time of Zuhr expires (with the proviso that you remain as a Ma’zoor).  Re:- Ahsanul Fataawa Pg.78 Vol.2
