Niyyah For Ihraam
QUESTION:
A person read the Dua when making Niyyah for Ihraam but he was not en route for Umrah. Someone told him to read the Dua with the intention Allaah Ta’ala invites him for Umrah. He later found out that this Duaa is recited when making Niyyah for Ihraam. Is he regarded to be in a state of Ihraam?
ANSWER:
Fuqhaa state that for one to enter the state of Ihraam, three conditions should be met:
1. Being a Muslim.
2. To recite the Talbiya.
3. Making an intention from the heart to perform Umrah or Haj. (Re: Umdatun Naasik Pg. 198).
In the queried scenario, since you did not have an intention to enter the state of Ihraam and perform Umrah, you will not be regarded as having entered into Ihraam.
