1. Can a man in Ihraam hold his wife’s hand (she is also in Ihraam) during Tawaaf due to large crowds?
1. There is no problem in holding the hand of one’s spouse during Tawaaf as it is not done out of to lust, but to keep one’s partner attached to him or her during Tawaaf.
2. Can a man who completed Umrah cut his wife’s hair, and thereafter, can she cut his hair for both of them to come out of Ihraam?
2. It will be permissible to cut the wife’s hair to make her Halaal while being in a state of Ihraam, and she may then cut her husband’s hair to make him Halaal.
3. A person is travelling from South Africa to Jeddah for Umrah on an early morning flight. He will not have time in the morning to read Salaatul Ihraam. Can he read Salaatul Ihraam after Esha the day before leaving, and then wear his Ihraam without making intention of Ihraam? He will make intention of Ihraam just before the Meeqaat.
3. It is best that the Nafl Salaah before making Niyyat for Umrah or Hajj is performed when intending to make Niyyat of Umrah or Hajj, and not after some delay as recorded in your query. This is the method recorded in the Kitaabs of Fiqh. You may therefore perform the two Rakaats Nafl Salaah on reaching the airport while wearing the Ihraam, and immediately after performing Salaah, make Niyyat and recite the Talbiyah (before departure). This would be the ideal and best way of entering Ihraam.
4. If this (no.3) is permissible, can he wear underwear while sleeping due to urine drops, or must he be wearing the Ihraam towels only?
4. If the two Rakaats Salaah are performed at night without making the Niyyat of Ihraam and reciting the Talbiyah, one will not be considered as a Muhrim (one in a state of Ihram) until the Niyyat is made and the Talbiyah recited. Hence, if one wears sewn clothing after performing the Salaah only, one will not be required to discharge any Damm. One will only enter the state of Ihraam on making Niyyat and reciting the Talbiyah.
