Not clipping the hair and nails in the case of Aqeeqah

0QUESTION:-

If one is intending to perform Aqeeqah on Eidul Adha, should one also refrain from cutting nails and hair?

ANSWER:-

It is Mustahab for the person intending Qurbani to refrain from clipping the hair and nails from the 1st of Dhul Hijjah, until the Qurbani animal is slaughtered. This ruling is not applicable in the case of Aqeeqah.

حدَّثنا عَمرو بن مُسلم اللَّيثيُّ، قال: سمعتُ سعيدَ بنَ المُسيّب يقول: سمعت أُم سَلمةَ تقولُ: قال رسولُ الله -صلَّى الله عليه وسلم-: “مَن كان لهُ ذِبْحٌ يذْبَحُهُ، فإذا أهلَّ هِلالُ ذي الحِجّة فَلا يأخُذَنَّ من شَعرهِ ولا مِن أظفارِه شيئاً حتى يُضَحيَ (أبو داود)
