Offering condolences to a Murtad’s family
QUESTION:
A person passed away as a Murtad. Are we allowed to send his Muslim family our condolences?

Yes, it is permissible to offer condolences to the deceased person’s family by saying, “May Allah Ta’ala grant you a better replacement – meaning a Muslim family member” or any other similar words. However, seeking forgiveness for the deceased or attending the burial is not permitted.
