Question:-
Who is the most suitable person to be appointed for the Taraweeh Salaah? If there is an appointed Imaam in the Masjid, can the Masjid committee appoint another Imaam for Taraweeh?
Answer:-
The Imaam of Taraweeh should be a person that recites Quraan Sharif very well (ensuring that the rules of Tajweed are fully upheld), who knows his Quraan very well and is well acquainted with the necessary laws of Taraweeh, and his outward appearance should be in conformity with Shariah. If the Imaam of the Masjid was appointed (without any conditions attached at the time of employment, such as the responsibility of appointing the Taraweeh Imaam is upon the trustees) then the Imaam will have the first right of leading the Taraweeh Salaah. In this instance, it will not be correct for the administration to appoint any Huffaz to lead the Taraweeh Salaah without the Imaam’s consent. أي وإن كان غيره من الحاضرين من هو أعلم وأقرأ منه
