Qunoot-e-Naazilah

QUESTION:

What is the ruling concerning Qunoot-e-Naazilah? In which Salaah should it be read and when in the Salaah is it read?

ANSWER:

According to the Hanafi jurists Qunoot-e-Naazilah may be recited at a time when the Muslims are facing severe difficulties and hardship. After raising the head from Ruku in the second Rakaat of the Fajr Salaah, one may recite the Qunoot. Below, we have quoted references from the Kitaabs of Fiqh which explicitly state that Qunoot should be recited in the Fajr Salaah only and for a maximum period of 30 days.  The Qunoot should not be recited in the remaining Salaah.  [Re: Fataawa Uthmaaniyyah Vol:2 Pg 317, Kitaab-un-Nawaazil Vol:4 Pg:575-577, Fataawa Qaasmiyyah Vol:8 Pg:154, Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah Vol:11 Pg:243]

واما عند النوازل في القنوت في الفجر (منحة مع البحر الرائق ج١ص٤٥)

ان قتوت النازلة عندنا مختص بصلاة الفجر دون غيرها من صلاة الجهرية والسرية (شامي ج٢ص٤٤٩)

عنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ: ” قَنَتَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَهْرًا بَعْدَ الرُّكُوعِ فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ يَدْعُو عَلَى رِعْلٍ، وَذَكْوَانَ، وَيَقُولُ: عُصَيَّةُ عَصَتِ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ” (صحيح مسلم)
