Reward For A Woman Offering Salaah In Her Home

Hadrat Umme Salamah Radiallahu Anha narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “The woman’s Salaah in her home is better that her Salaah in her room. Her Salaah in her room is better than her Salaah in her house. Her Salaah in her house is better than her Salaah outside (her house).” [Haithami]

Hadrat Ibn Umar Radiallahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “The woman is an ‘Aurah (something that is covered, concealed and protected). When she leaves her home, Shaytaan peeks at her. The closest she is with Allah Ta’ala is when she is in the depths of her house.” [Tabrani]

Hadrat Umme Salamah Radiallahu Anha narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “The best Masaajid for the women are the depths of their homes.” [Musnad Ahmad]

Hadrat Ibn Masud Radiallahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “The most beloved Salaah of a woman in the sight of Allah Ta’ala is the Salaah that is offered in the darkest place of her house.” [Ibn Khuzaymah]

Ibn Khuzaymah Rahimahullah and a group of Ulama clearly state that her Salaah in her house is superior to her Salaah in the Masjid, even if it is in the Masjid of Makkah Mukarramah, Madinah Munawwarah or Baitul Maqdis. The general sense of the previously quoted Ahaadith demonstrate this.

“I (Ad-Dimyati Rahimahullah) say that in the era of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, when the women used to go out for Salaah, they would dress in simple and humble clothes, fully covered, and would not be recognized in the darkness. When Rasulullah Sallallahu Wasallam used to complete the Salaah, he would order the men to remain in their places until the women turn and leave. Despite all this, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, ‘Their Salaah in their homes is better for them.’ 

Now, what do we say about those women who emerge from their homes having beautified themselves, perfumed themselves, displaying themselves, and wearing their most beautiful clothing?! Hadrat Aisha Radiallahu Anha said, ‘Had Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam known what new trends the women would set after him, he would have certainly stopped them from going to the Masjid.’ This is her statement with regard to the Sahaabiyaat Radiallahu Anhun and women of the first era of Islam. What do you think she would have said if she had seen the women of our time?”
