Saliva Of Domestic Cats

QUESTION:

Is the saliva of a domestic cat Paak? If it licks a Burqah, or licks a person’s hand, is it acceptable to perform Salaah without washing the affected area first?

ANSWER:

The saliva of a domestic cat is not impure. However, it will be disliked to perform Salaah without washing the part of the clothes or body that it licked.

ويكره أن تلحس الهرة كف إنسان ثم يصلي قبل غسله أو يأكل بقية ما أكلت منه إن كان غنيا يجد غيره ولا يكره أكله للفقير للضرورة (حاشية الطحطاوي على مراقي الفلاح ٣١)
