Scratching the head in Ihraam

QUESTION:-

I mistakenly scratched my head twice while in the state of Ihraam. Do I need to give Damm?

ANSWER:-

One should avoid scratching the head whilst in Ihraam, as it is possible that a few strands of hair could possibly fall off. It is Makrooh to scratch the head or beard if there is fear of hair falling off. Although Damm will not become obligatory in such an instance, one will be required to give Sadaqah. However, if one very slightly scratches the head or beard (without any hair falling off), then there is no harm in doing so.
