Question:-

What is the ruling on attending Seerah programmes?

Do you recommend the Qasida Burda Sharif commentary by Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb?

Answer:-

1. If by ‘Seerah programme’, you mean a straight-forward Bayaan that is held in the Masjid wherein nothing more than the Seerah of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is discussed, then there is no harm in doing so. In fact, discussing any aspect of the life of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is meritorious and a means of deriving blessings. However, such talks and discussions should be held throughout the year and not only at fixed or stipulated times of the year.

2. I haven’t read the Qasida Burdah Sharif written by Mufti Saheb. However, Mufti Ebrahim Desai Rahimahullah was a reliable scholar that served the Deen of Allah Ta’ala and many have benefitted from his works. We, therefore, hope that the Qasida Burdah Sharif too, will be beneficial Insha’Allah.
