Method of Tashahud

QUESTION:

Please explain the method of making Tashahud, with regards to the postion of the fingers?

ANSWER:

We assume that your query pertains to the method of sitting in the Tashahhud posture for women. A woman in the Tashahhud posture will sit on her left posterior and both her legs should be taken out towards the right side. In adopting this method, the right thigh comes over the left thigh and the right calf over the left calf.[1] The correct method of placing the fingers in Tashahhud is to form a circle with the thumb and middle finger of the right hand, whilst the remaining fingers will be kept closed. When one comes to لا اله then one should raise one’s index finger and then slightly drop it at الا الله  in such a manner that the index finger does not touch the thigh, but is kept slightly raised until the Salaam.
