Question:-
Can mufti please advise regarding the following situation : My parents are struggling financially and I would like to assist as I currently have extra money at the end of the each month. Should I pay off my debt (car loan) or assist my parents in this regard. I would gladly assist my parents, however I’m worried that if I pass away and I still have debts to pay I will be accountable.
Answer:-
The Fuqaha have stated that it is necessary upon a son who has the financial ability to look after and support his poor parents. Hence, we advise you to support your parents financially and at the same time make arrangements to settle your debts according to your ability. In the case of demise, the debts (if still outstanding) will be settled from the estate before distributing the funds to the heirs, hence the debt should be recorded in your last Will. Also, it is hoped that through the Dua of your parents all your debts will be settled well before the time.
Below we have a recorded a Wazifa that is extremely effective for settling debts:
Perhaps thousands of people have benefitted from the Wazaa’if and Duas that Hadrat Hakim Akhtar Saheb Rahimahullah has prescribed for various problems. These prescriptions are derived directly from the Quraan and Hadith, or from the names of Allah Ta’ala.
Many people in the world are engulfed in debts. These cause a person to become extremely restless and distressed, particularly when the creditor is pressurizing one to pay. Similarly, many are concerned of their daughters particularly when they have reached marriageable age and haven’t yet found suitable proposals, whilst others are distressed due to people owing them money and not prepared to pay. Hadrat has prescribed that one who recites the following names of Allah Ta’ala excessively then his needs will be fulfilled.
ياَ صَمَدُ يَا عَزِيْزُ يَا مُغْنِيْ يَا نَاصِرُ
O The Independent, O The All-Powerful, O The One that makes one independent, O The Helper
Hadrat states that one person who was an Aalim, Haafidh and Qaari was in debt. Furthermore, his daughter was not receiving any proposals. Hadrat instructed him to recite these four names of Allah Ta’ala. Six months later, while travelling to South Africa via Jeddah, Hadrat stopped for Umrah where he met this same Aalim. Hadrat enquired as to how things were and the Aalim replied: “You turned sand to gold! When I started reciting these four names of Allah, I managed to pay my debt, my daughter received proposals, and I have become a wealthy person.”
Hadrat states it is best to recite these names 119 times at once. If this is not possible, then recite it whilst walking, sitting, etc. There is no fixed amount, hence one may recite as much as he wants, but 119 times was prescribed, as it translates to “Ya Kaafi – O the Sufficient One”, when converting Arabic alphabets into numerals.
