Hadrat Uqbah bin Amir Radiallahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “Whoever performs a perfect Wudhu and then follows it with two Rakaats of Salaah with total devotion and humility, Paradise becomes incumbent upon him.” [Sahih Muslim]

Hadrat Uthmaan Radiallahu Anhu performed Wudhu and then said: “I saw Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam performing Wudhu just as I performed it. He then said, ‘Whoever performs Wudhu as I have done and follows it with two Rakaats of Salaah without allowing his thoughts to wander about, his past sins are forgiven,’.” [Sahih Bukhari]

Hadrat Zaid ibn Khalid Al Juhani Radiallahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “Whoever performs a perfect Wudhu and then offers two Rakaats of Salaah without forgetting anything therein, his past sins are forgiven.” [Sunan Abu Dawud]

Hadrat Abu Darda Radiallahu Anhu narrates that he heard Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam saying: “Whoever performs a perfect Wudhu and then stands up to offer two or four Rakaats-one of the narrators, Sahl, is in doubt whether he said two or four-bowing, prostrating and humbling himself beautifully, and then seeking forgiveness from Allah Ta’ala, Allah Ta’ala forgives him.” [Musnad Ahmad]

In conclusion, one should perform two Rakaats Tahiyyatul Wudhu after performing Wudhu, as great rewards are promised in the Hadith for doing so with the proviso that it is not the Makrooh times of Salaah. Whenever the Wudhu of Hadrat Bilaal Radiallahu Anhu was invalidated, he renewed his Wudhu and performed two Rakaats of Salaah. It was on this basis that Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam informed him that he heard his footsteps in Jannah.
