Hadrat Ubaadah bin Saamit Radiallahu Anhu narrates: I heard Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam saying, “There are five Salaah which Allah Ta’ala prescribed to the servants. Whoever fulfils them without leaving anything out therein, by way of not showing due importance to them, then Allah Ta’ala, makes a promise to him that He will admit him into Paradise. Whoever does not fulfil them, Allah Ta’ala makes no promise to him. If He wills, He may punish him, and if He wills, He may admit him into Paradise.”
Imaam Abu Dawud Rahimahullah narrates the above Hadith as follows: I heard Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam saying, “There are five Salaah which Allah Ta’ala made compulsory. Whoever performs a perfect Wudhu for these Salaah, performs them on their appointed time, fulfils their bowing and prostrating postures perfectly, offers them with humility, then Allah Ta’ala makes a promise to Himself that He will forgive him. Whoever does not do this, Allah Ta’ala makes no promise to Himself. If He wills, He may forgive him; and if He wills, He may punish him.” [Sunan Abu Dawood]
Hadrat Abdullah bin Amr Radiallahu Anhu narrates that a person came to Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam and asked him about the most virtuous deeds. Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam replied, “Salaah!” The person asked, “Then what?” Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Then Salaah.” The person asked, “Then what?” Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam replied, “Then Salaah.” He asked this question three times and received the same answer three times. Again, he asked, “Then what?” Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam replied, “Waging Jihad for the cause of Allah Ta’ala.” [Musnad Ahmad]
Hadrat Salman Radiallahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “When a Muslim offers Salaah, his sins are raised above his head. Every time he goes into prostration, they fall off. He thus completes his Salaah and his sins have fallen off him.” [Tabrani]
Hadrat Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu narrates: There were two men from Baliyy, a sub-tribe from the Quda’ah tribe. Both these men embraced Islam at the hands of Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam. One of them was martyred and the other followed suit a year later. Hadrat Talha bin Ubaidullah said, “I saw the one who passed away later, being admitted into Paradise before the one who was martyred. I was surprised at this. I related this to Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam the next morning, or this was related to Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam. He said, “Did the second person not keep fast after his (the first person’s) death in the month of Ramadhaan? Did he not offer 6000 Rakaats of Salaah? Did he not offer so many Rakaats of such and such Salaah?” [Musnad Ahmad]
Hadrat Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu narrates: I heard Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam saying, “Tell me, if a person has a river at his door step and he baths therein five times a day, will any filth remain on his body?” The Sahabah Radiallahu Anhum replied, “No filth will remain on his body.” Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Similar is the case with the five Salaah. Allah Ta’ala wipes out sins through them.” [Sahih Bukhari]
Hadrat Abdullah bin Masood Radiallahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “You are consumed by the fire, you are consumed by the fire (by committing sins). Then, when you offer the Fajr Salaah, it washes them. You are consumed by the fire, you are consumed by the fire. Then, when you offer the Dhuhr Salaah, it washes them. You are consumed by the fire, you are consumed by the fire. Then, when you offer the Asr Salaah, it washes them. You are consumed by the fire, you are consumed by the fire. Then, when you offer the Maghrib Salaah, it washes them. You are consumed by the fire, you are consumed by the fire. Then, when you offer the Esha Salaah, it washes them. You then sleep. Nothing is recorded against you until you wake up.” [Tabrani]
Hadrat Amr bin Murrah al-Juhani Radiallahu Anhu narrates: A person came to Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam and said, “O Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam! Tell me, if I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah Ta’ala and that you are the Messenger of Allah Ta’ala, I offer the five Salaah, I discharge Zakaah, I fast in the month of Ramadhaan, and I offer the night prayer (Taraweeh) in Ramadhaan, then from among whom am I?” He replied, “You are from among the Siddiqeen (the truthful) and the Martyrs.” [Bazzaar]
Hadrat Hanzalah al-Katib Radiallahu Anhu narrates: I heard Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam saying, “Whoever safeguards the five Salaah together with their bowing and prostrating postures, and offering them at correct times, and has full knowledge that they are a duty from Allah Ta’ala, shall enter Paradise-or he said-Paradise becomes incumbent on him-or he said, he will be made prohibited to the hell-fire.” [Musnad Ahmad]
Hadrat Abdullah bin Amr Radiallahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam mentioned Salaah one day and said: “Whoever safeguards it, it will be a source of light, a proof, and a means of salvation for him on the day of resurrection. And whoever does not safeguard it, will have no light, no proof and no salvation. And on the day of resurrection he will be with Qarun, Pharoah, Hamaan, and Ubayy bin Khalaf.” [Musnad Ahmad]
