QUESTION:
Is it permissible to undertake a special trip to visit a Masjid other than the three Masaajid mentioned in the Hadith?
ANSWER:
It is recorded in Ihyau-Ulumid-Deen that one should not undertake a journey to any Masjid from amongst the Masaajid (in the world) except these 3 Masajid due to the double-fold reward mentioned for undertaking a journey to them. This extra reward is not mentioned for other Masaajid, rather the reward of visiting other Masajid is the same or equal. [Re:- Ghunyatun Naasik Pg.563] However, if one undertakes a journey to other Masajid to join family ties or to acquire knowledge of Deen then there is no harm in doing so.
