Using The Term, “I Bow Down To You”
QUESTION:
Will it be permissible to use expressions like, “I bow down to you”, or, “I bow down to whatever you say”?
ANSWER:
The term ‘I bow down to you’, simply means that one agrees to the demands or follows the orders of someone. In simple terms, he submits to the other person. The literal meaning of ‘Sajdah’ is not meant here, nor is one physically prostrating before another; hence it does not render one out of the fold of Islam. However, the term should be avoided as we as Muslims only accept and submit to those things that are permitted in Shariah, and not anything or everything.
