Visiting The Grave Of Badsha Peer

Aug 14, 2024 | Janaazah

QUESTION:

Is visiting the Mazaar of Badsha Peer permissible?

ANSWER:

The purpose of visiting a grave is to remind us of the hereafter. Hence, one may visit any graveyard with the proviso that it is free of innovations. If people are involved in any form of Bid’aat or Shirk, then one should attend another graveyard that is free of such evil practices.

The narration of Kanzul Ummaal states:

من كثر سواد قوم فهو منهم، ومن رضي عمل قوم كان شريكا في عمله (كنز العمال #24735)

Whoever increases the number of a nation will be amongst them, and whoever is pleased with the action of a nation will be a partner in their actions.

قال العلامة المناوي في شرحه أي من كثر سواد قوم بأن ساكنهم وعاشرهم وناصرهم فهو منهم وإن لم يكن من قبيلتهم أو بلدهم.(فيض القدير 6/156)

Reciting and passing over the rewards to the deceased can be carried out from anywhere in the world, therefore, it is not necessary that one visits the graveyard for this purpose.

ALLAH TA’ALA ALONE IN HIS INFINITE KNOWLEDGE KNOWS BEST!
