QUESTION:
Kindly advise on removable false teeth, as well as permanent teeth, like Bridges? If removable, is it compulsory to remove the false teeth for Wudhu and Salaah? What happens when a person dies and he had a permanent Bridge attached to the jaw? Is it permissible to wear teeth for fasting in Ramadaan, and remove at Salaah or Quraan times?
ANSWER:
1. Removing false teeth while making Wudhu, or at the time of Salaah, is not necessary. One may perform Wudhu and Salaah whilst wearing it.
2. In principle, anything extra attached to the body of the deceased and can be removed at the time of burial, should be removed from the deceased. However, if removing it is difficult, then it will be permissible to leave it on the deceased. Since the permanent bridge cannot be removed and is now considered as part of the body, it does not have to be removed. There is no sin in leaving it attached to the body.

3. There is no problem in wearing one’s teeth while fasting. Also, there is no need to remove it at the time of Tilaawat as explained above in #1. However, one should ensure that there are no food particles stuck in between the teeth, particularly whilst fasting.
