Working as an environment artist

Question:-

I am currently studying 3d Design and I intend to work as a environment artist that will design 3d objects such as trees ,walls etc .

The only problem is that I will be receiving my income from gaming companies , advert companies and Architecture Firms .

Please advise if this is a suitable field to continue studying in, and is it allowed in Islam?

Answer:-

If you refrain from designing animate objects, and only design inanimate objects such as trees, mountains, cars, etc. then there is no problem with your occupation. However, you should refrain from offering your services to gaming companies as their income is generally Haraam due to the impermissible games that they market. There is no issue working for advertising companies and architecture firms as majority of their income is generally from Halaal sources. However, if it is proven that majority of their income (51% or more) is from Haraam sources, then you should abstain from offering your services to them as well.

اٰكِلُ الرَّبَّا وَكَاسِبُ الْحَرَامِ أَهْدَى إلَيْهِ أَوْ أَضَافَهُ وَغَالِبُ مَالِهِ حَرَامٌ لَا يَقْبَلُ، وَلَا يَأْكُلُ مَا لَمْ يُخْبِرْهُ أَنَّ ذَلِكَ الْمَالَ أَصْلُهُ حَلَالٌ وَرِثَهُ أَوْ اسْتَقْرَضَهُ، وَإِنْ كَانَ غَالِبُ مَالِهِ حَلَالًا لَا بَأْسَ بِقَبُولِ هَدِيَّتِهِ وَالْأَكْلِ مِنْهَا، كَذَا فِي الْمُلْتَقَطِ.
