Experiencing wetness in the morning

Aug 26, 2022 | Ghusl

Question:-

I am a married female. On awakening in the morning I experience some wetness and wonder whether I had a wet dream or is it just the result of perspiration, hence, was I supposed to make Ghusl first and then perform Fajr Salaah or not. This doubt results in me taking a Ghusl and then repeating my Fajr Salaah, and if I had read Quran during that morning, then I repeat my Quraan recitation as well. This makes it difficult for me as I feel like I have to keep repeating my Salaah and Quraan Tilaawah.

1.1) Please could Mufti-saab advise whether this moisture/wetness which I see necessitates a Ghusl?

1.2) If I do not remember feeling aroused in or after the dream, nor do I remember any sexual activity taking place in the dream, then is it necessary for me to make a Ghusl?

Answer:-

If one sees a wet dream but doesn’t experience any wetness on awakening then Ghusl is not obligatory. On the other hand, if one experiences wetness but cannot remember seeing any dream, then Ghusl will be obligatory particularly when one is convinced that the wetness is semen.

Now coming to your scenario, if the wetness on your clothing seems similar to the moisture of perspiration (and this type of wetness occurs regularly) then you shouldn’t pay any attention to it. In this instance, you should renew your Wudhu and continue with Salaah. However, if the wetness is similar to the semen that emerges at the time of intercourse, and you are certain of it being semen, then you are required to take Ghusl even though you have not seen any dream.
