Using Savings For Hajj To Perform Umrah

QUESTION: 

A person is saving towards embarking on his Fardh Hajj. He does not possess the necessary amount yet, but he has enough to perform Umrah. Is it advisable for him to go for Umrah, or should he focus on his Hajj instead?

ANSWER:

Fundamentally, it would be much more preferable and meritorious if a person saved up for Hajj first, even though he currently has the means to go for Umrah. Notwithstanding that, if a person does go for Umrah with his current means, then this too is permitted and definitely not void of immense blessings.
