Isopropyl Alcohol
QUESTION:-
Isopropyl alcohol is a pure alcoholic liquid which is commonly sold as “rubbing alcohol”. This alcohol is also used in sanitizers and disinfectants. Is it permissible to use as a disinfectant which contains this type of alcohol?
ANSWER:-
Isopropyl alcohol is pure alcohol, which is a colourless liquid with a musty, sharp odour. It is made from plants and grains such as corn, wheat and barley. Propene and water are the basic materials necessary to produce isopropyl alcohol. If there is an alcohol-free product available on the market, then one should opt for the alcohol-free product. However, if an alcohol-free alternative is not available, and the product containing isopropyl alcohol is a necessity, then it will be permissible to utilize. We are confident that there are a number of alcohol-free disinfectants available on the market, hence it will be best to opt for such disinfectants.
