QUESTION:
If a person is in Hajj in a state of Ihraam, and his friend back in South Africa phones him requesting to borrow his hunting rifle to hunt with, will it be permissible for him to lend it to his friend?
ANSWER:
It is mentioned in Muallimul Hujjaaj that if a hunter requests a Muhrim for a knife, or an arrow, or any other weapon to slaughter an animal of prey, then Damm will be compulsory on the Muhrim. However, if the animal of prey could have been slaughtered without the Muhrim’s items, then Damm will not be necessary but loaning the items will be considered as Makrooh. Hence, the Muhrim should refrain from loaning his rifle for hunting whilst in Ihraam in the queried scenario even though the borrower is in another country.
محرم سے شکاری ذبح کرنے کے لئے چھری چاقو – تیر- نیزہ وغیرہ مانگا یا محرم نے شکاری کو شکار کا حکم کیا تو محرم پر جزاء واجب ہوگی لیکن اگر بلا اس کے تیر چھری ، چاقو وغیرہ دینے کے بھی وہ اس کو کسی چیز سے ذبح کر سکتا تھا تو دینے والے پر جزاء واجب نہ ہوگی ، لیکن مکروہ ہے (معلم الحجاج ص254)
