Insulting And Humiliating The Husband

Jul 30, 2024 | Marriage And Divorce

QUESTION:

A husband and wife are both working. The husband goes to work, and the woman farms. The wife taunts her husband by declaring, “I am not eating from your earnings; rather, I am eating from my own earnings.” Will the wife be considered sinful for making such statements?

ANSWER:

Making such statements is considered disrespectful. It is necessary for the wife to control her speech. In the Mubarak Hadith, a great deal of emphasis has been placed on the rights and respect of the husband. Hence, it is not permissible for the wife to utter statements of disrespect towards the husband. [Re: Fataawa Mahmoodiyah Vol:29 Pg:52-53]
