Age of menopause
Question:
When does menopause commence in a woman? What is the ruling in regards to the blood that appears after menopause?
Answer:
According to the juristic view, menopause commences at the age of 55. The bleeding experienced during menopause will be considered as Haidh. Mullah Ali Qari Rahimahullah has mentioned that it is 50 years in our times.
The bleeding after menopause will be considered as Haidh, if the colour of the blood corresponds with colours of Haidh (usually experienced before menopause.) If the menstrual blood colour was usually red (for example) and the bleeding after menopause is green or yellow or brown in colour, then it won’t be considered as Haidh.
