QUESTION:
Is it permissible for a person to bath and brush their teeth while is a state of Ihraam?
ANSWER:
1. There is no problem taking Ghusl while in Ihraam. However, scented soap shouldn’t be used during Ghusl.
2. One should avoid using toothpaste while in Ihraam. If one utilizes so much of scented toothpaste that most of the mouth is filled with scent, then Damm will be obligatory. On the other hand, if one uses very little toothpaste (which will not affect most of the mouth), then Sadaqah should be discharged. Generally, the entire mouth is affected when brushing the teeth with toothpaste, hence abstention is necessary. [Muallimul Hujjaj Pg.236]
