Disobedient Children

QUESTION:

Please advise how we should approach our 19 year old daughter who is displaying serious acts of disobedience towards us, such as verbal and physical abuse, threatens to move out of the house and refuses to acknowledge or reform her wrongdoing?

ANSWER:

We humbly advise that as parents, you should all continue making Dua for your daughter, and try to advise her and correct her in a polite manner. If this does not work, then you should seek help from a friend or relative who your daughter looks up to, and try for that person to speak to your daughter. Do not assist her financially to the extent that she becomes independent. Do not pay for her tertiary secular education. Start Ta’leem in the home on a daily basis. Do not tolerate her verbal and physical abuse.  Always adopt patience, and constantly remain in the remembrance of Allah.

ALLAH TA’ALA ALONE IN HIS INFINITE KNOWLEDGE KNOWS BEST!
