QUESTION:
What is the Fatwa in relation to disobeying one’s husband?
ANSWER:
It is not permissible for a wife to disobey her husband in those actions that are permissible; rather, it is obligatory upon her to obey her husband. The wife is strongly encouraged to obey her husband in the Mubarak Ahadith, and Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has mentioned stern warnings for being disobedient towards one’s husband. In conclusion, it is not permissible for any wife to disobey her husband.

وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: الْمَرْأَةُ إِذَا صَلَّتْ خَمْسَهَا وَصَامَتْ شَهْرَهَا وَأَحْصَنَتْ فَرْجَهَا وَأَطَاعَتْ بَعْلَهَا فَلْتَدْخُلْ مِنْ أَيِّ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ شَاءَتْ. رَوَاهُ أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ فِي الْحِلْيَةِ
وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: ثَلَاثَةٌ لَا تُقْبَلُ لَهُمْ صَلَاةٌ وَلَا تَصْعَدُ لَهُمْ حَسَنَةٌ الْعَبْدُ الْآبِقُ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَى مَوَالِيهِ فَيَضَعَ يَدَهُ فِي أَيْدِيهِمْ وَالْمَرْأَةُ السَّاخِطُ عَلَيْهَا زَوْجُهَا وَالسَّكْرَانُ حَتَّى يصحو. رَوَاهُ الْبَيْهَقِيّ فِي شعب الْإِيمَان
