QUESTION:
What is the rule if a wife is visiting her parents, and her husband requests her return?
ANSWER:
The wife should not visit her parents without her husband’s consent. When she visits, then she should return as soon as her husband requests her to return. She shouldn’t delay without a valid reason, nor should her family hold her behind so that the relationship between spouses is not ruined. It is also not correct for the husband to prevent her from visiting her parents totally. If her parents are living in close proximity to her, then he should take her to visit them once a week, and occasionally he may let her stay with them as well. [Re: Kitaabun Nawaazil Vol:15 Pg:156]
