Doubts regarding passing of wind

Jan 24, 2024 | Wudhu

QUESTION:

I have a lot of doubt if I passed wind in Salaah. I get a feeling of something pulling at the side at the back passage. Does my Wudhu break or not?

ANSWER:

The doubt of passing wind does not nullify one’s Wudhu unless there is certainty that wind has emerged from the rear passage. Sometimes, one experiences a feeling in the stomach and doubts whether he has passed wind or not. This does not nullify the Wudhu as nothing has emerged from the rear passage. In conclusion, you should ignore these doubts unless there is certainty that wind has emerged by hearing a sound or finding some smell. However, if there is no smell or sound but one is certain that wind has emerged, then Wudhu will be nullified.
