Dua through the good actions of a person

Question:-

What is the reward for controlling your desires in this world, and for lowering your gaze for example, when you have a strong desire of looking at the opposite gender?

There is no doubt that we are in need of Allah Ta’ala and He isn’t in need of any of us. When making Dua can a person say, “Ya Allah, I lowered my gaze and controlled my desires for you, so please accept my Duas,”?

Answer:-

The one who controls his desires to please Allah Ta’ala  and due to fear of standing before Him on the day of Qiyaamah, is promised Jannah. Allah Ta’ala states, “As for the one who fears standing (to account for his actions) before his Rabb and who restrains himself from carnal passions …then Jannah shall certainly be his abode.” [Surah 79, Verses 40/41]

In fact, the one who breaks his Haraam desires to please his Creator, gets Allah Ta’ala immediately in his heart. Indeed, it is a great blessing to attain Jannah, but the Creator of Jannah is far superior to Jannah. This special connection with Allah Ta’ala is attained immediately in the world.

There is no harm in making Dua through the intermediary of any good action carried out for the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala. However, always consider the good action as a bounty of Allah Ta’ala and it should not be attributed to one’s personal efforts.
