Playing a recording of Quraan whilst engaged in work

Question:-

When playing a recording of the Quraan Sharif in your home, do you have to be sitting and listening, or can you play it whilst continuing with your daily chores?

Answer:-

The Quraan Sharif is the book of Allah Ta’ala, and etiquette demands that the highest degree of respect is afforded to the words of Allah Ta’ala when recited.  As one sits in a gathering of Qiraat (where Quraan is being recited) with respect and honour, and listens attentively without being distracted in any way, similarly, one is required to display the same level of respect and honour whilst listening to a recording of the Quraan Sharif. In conclusion, it is inappropriate for one to be carrying out one’s household chores, or engaged in some other work whilst playing a recording of the Quraan Sharif. One should sit with utmost respect and listen attentively to the Quraan Sharif being recited.
