Question:-
Can we partake from a restaurant that sells Halaal chicken although they are not Halaal-certified. Also, alcohol is not served on the premises.
Answer:-
If the restaurant is Muslim owned and the food served is 100% Halaal, then there is no problem in eating from such an outlet, even though the restaurant hasn’t been certified as Halaal by any organization. However, we advise one to be cautious when eating out, as a number of restaurants purchase their meat from multiple suppliers. If one supplier cannot meet the demand, then they are forced to purchase from other suppliers as well. In the current climate, it is advisable to eat food that is prepared at home and one should ensure that the meat purchased is hand-slaughtered strictly in accordance to Shariah. One should refrain from eating out and purchasing commercial meat products.
However, if by your query you refer to eating at a non-Muslim restaurant that stocks Halaal meat, then this is totally discouraged. Even if the restaurant is purchasing the meat from a reliable Muslim chicken supplier, then too, there is no guarantee that all the products used in his kitchen is 100% Halaal. There are times when Halaal food items are contaminated with Haraam. Also, when many Muslims are not concerned of eating 100% Halaal food in this day and age, then where will the Kuffar be concerned of providing Halaal food to their clients? These are the enemies of Islam and can never be trusted. One should therefore refrain from purchasing from their outlets, even if they are in possession of Halaal certification.
