Gelatine capsules

Question:-

Can Mufti Saheb please provide a ruling regarding taking medicines that are prescribed by health professionals, which are gelatine capsules.

Answer:-

If it is known that the gelatine capsule is manufactured from vegetable sources,  then there is no problem in consuming it. However, if the capsule is manufactured from animal or bovine gelatine, and it is unknown whether the animal was slaughtered in accordance to Shariah or not, then one should refrain from consuming the capsule. In this instance, the medicine may be removed from the capsule and consumed with water.
