Husband holds superiority over parents

QUESTION:-

My husband often gets angry when I do things with my mother. He almost always has a conflicting opinion with my mother. Should I give preference to him, or my mother?

ANSWER:-

Your parents have rights over you, and serving and pleasing them is the door to Jannah. However, obedience to one’s husband enjoys superiority over them. Hence, you should always keep your husband pleased (by listening to, and obeying him), and serve your parents as well. Re:- Kifaayatul Mufti Pg.399 Vol.12

There is no need to inform your mother that you should be listening to your husband, and not her. Always give her a good hearing, but obey the instructions of your husband.
