Husband not punctual with Salaah and listens to music
Question:-
I am newly married and experiencing numerous problems with my husband. He listens to music and is not punctual with Salaah. This results in us fighting all the time. Kindly guide me in this matter. Is there any Amal that can be carried out to ease the situation?
Answer:-
It is your responsibility as a wife to remind your husband to be punctual with his daily Salaah and discard all Haraam practices such as listening to music, etc. which you are fulfilling Alhamdulillah in a satisfactory manner as we understand from your query. The Quraan Sharif states, “Call towards the path of your Rabb (that is towards the Shariah) with wisdom (by means of the Quraan Sharif or teachings of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and with beautiful counsel (in a soft manner commanding good and prohibiting from evil.”) This verse clearly indicates that one’s approach should be of a lenient nature and should not be in a commanding and dictating manner. Your responsibility terminates at this point, that is, after reminding him, it is totally up to him whether he wants to act upon the injunctions of the Shariah or not. If he doesn’t reform and act upon your advices, then the sin of neglecting Salaah and listening to music is totally upon him, as you have fulfilled your duty as a wife.
Many womenfolk like yourself are desirous of their husbands reforming and therefore go the extra mile in trying to achieve this goal and objective. However, this sometimes causes the man to become rebellious and more obstinate in his ways. We therefore suggest that you do not over burden yourself, but rather suffice on reminding him in a kind and loving manner, and thereafter leave the matter totally in the Hands of Allah Ta’ala.
At the same time, we suggest that you do the following;
-
Read 2 Rakaats Salaah daily, particularly with the intention of beseeching Allah Ta’ala to reform your husband.
-
Thereafter recite 100 times, Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam, followed by 500 times La Hawla Wala Quwwata Illa Billah, and then 100 times Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam again, followed by Dua. Do this daily for a period of 40 days. You will see the benefit of this Amal very shortly Insha’Allah with the proviso that you are practicing upon the Shariah as well. However, ensure that you perform Salaah and carry out this Amal at a time when you are in total seclusion. In other words, your mind should be at ease and there shouldn’t be any form of disturbance.
-
Keep us updated as you progress and feel free to seek guidance at any stage if need be. May Allah Ta’ala make it easy for you and grant you a life full of blessings and happiness. Ameen.
